Core Responsibilities:

Drives China data domain/product teams to take technical ownership and responsibility. Sets the technical direction and establishes the practices for the data area, ensuring alignment to the overall architecture for the data domain and establishing technical strategies across Digital Technology. Active participation and contribution to cross-organizational initiatives and communities.

  • Act as the technical representative for China data domain/product teams.
  • Build effective relationships and participate in interactions with a broader stakeholder outside Digital Technology alongside the product owner. Leads on user/customer collaboration throughout all stages of work.
  • Create data domain-wide strategic input on tools and technologies to support decision-making processes. Drive the overall architecture vision for data area. Ensure that data architecture and technology choices are captured and documented.
  • Provide technical leadership for the entire team and proactive in technology space – researches and evaluates software products, tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Has significant influence over the management of resources appropriate to given assignments.
  • Works under broad direction (e.g. data modeling, governance, integration, visualization, etc.) by self-initiated but is expected to align with the overall objectives of data domain.
  • Fully responsible for meeting technical objectives and strategies. Helps establish own or team objectives. Play a significant role in translating these into tasks, features and/or responsibilities. Support the backlog prioritization adding the architecture and engineering perspective, based on business values.
  • Spars with competency leads regarding team/people skillsets and opportunities for growth, improvement, and training.
  • Do you have what it takes?
  • Excellent communication, presentation, conflict management, critical thinking and leadership skills (e.g. coaching, mentoring, etc.).
  • 8+ years of experience in data architecture design, analytics/insights, projects or initiatives.
  • Hands-on experience of self-built enterprise-level data platform (e.g. data warehouse/lake, customer data platform etc.) with solid knowledge of data lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience of data engineering technologies (e.g. Python, SQL, ETL/ELT, Apache Spark, Streaming/Apache Kafka, CI/CD).
  • Hands-on experience of cloud platform (e.g. AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and experienced within working with and in, agile development teams.
  • Industry experience of retail, FMCG is preferred.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, security, and China data regulation & laws is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of EDA, DDD, Data Mesh or Evolutionary Architecture is a plus.
  • Oversea study, working experience or MNC working experience is preferred.
