Position Description

Join the thriving R&D team at allnex in the role of Innovation Scientist in Shanghai, China. In this position, you will drive the development of groundbreaking polymer products and technology for lithium-ion applications in Batteries and Electronics. Embrace this exciting opportunity at allnex, where you will lead projects, introduce high-performance products to the market, and contribute to the company's expansion into new areas of focus such as batteries and electronics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead or collaborate within cross-functional teams to develop sustainable new products that meet regional/global customer needs promptly and effectively.
  • Offer expert advice to stakeholders on product, process, and customer-related matters, both internal and external.
  • Serve as a bridge between the academic sphere (scouting, partnerships) and allnex application labs and clients.
  • Actively showcase allnex technology at conferences and play a role in safeguarding it through patent applications.
  • Participate actively in literature tracking and disseminate findings during regular meetings.
  • Evaluate the operational freedom and engage in the allnex IP process concerning new technologies.
  • Lead and contribute to new projects that emphasize medium to long-term innovations.
  • Guide lab technicians on new technologies and product development processes.
  • Create sales materials and launch packages for new products and technologies.
  • Present new technologies and solutions during internal and external meetings and seminars.
  • Smoothly facilitate the transition to commercialization for new products by providing robust support for the scale-up process at the plant.
Required Competencies and Experience
  • Minimum of 4 years' progressive experience in related technologies (polyacrylate, polyurethane, polyimide, polyester, epoxy, etc.) within the battery, coating, or adhesive sectors.
  • Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting for synthesizing and characterizing materials.
  • Demonstrated creativity and innovative thinking.
  • Strong collaboration skills spanning diverse fields, including chemistry and physics.
  • Effective problem-solving abilities and resilience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Focused on achieving results, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines.
  • Well-organized in planning and executing lab experiments.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate with a geographically dispersed, cross-functional team to achieve results.
  • Essential project management skills, showcasing the capacity to define projects, unite team members from various disciplines, and deliver on project objectives within set timelines.
  • Highly self-motivated.
  • Keen on continuous learning.
  • Optimistic and capable of handling pressure in demanding situations.
Educational Requirement
  • Ph.D. or Master's Degree in Organic Polymer or Colloid Chemistry, coupled with hands-on experience in preparation techniques.
