The Compliance Investigations Manager in China plays a crucial role in ensuring that Alcon's operations within China and/or the APAC region comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Responsibilities include conducting thorough investigations into potential compliance violations, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and collaborating with various stakeholders to maintain a high level of compliance across the business. Compliance Investigations:
  • Conduct detailed investigations into potential compliance violations through the Alcon Ethics Helpline, addressing unethical behavior, fraud, corruption, bribery, and regulatory breaches.
  • Gather evidence via interviews, document review, data analysis, and other suitable methods.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports outlining investigation findings.
  • Collaborate with internal functions such as Legal, Human Resources, Finance, and Global Security to ensure effective implementation of compliance actions.
Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices in the country/region.
  • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and assess their impact on the organization.
  • Advise management on necessary adjustments to maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Develop and execute compliance training programs to enhance employee awareness of obligations.
Risk Mitigation:
  • Identify potential compliance risks within Alcon's operations and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Perform risk assessments and audits to evaluate existing controls' effectiveness.
  • Implement processes and controls to ensure compliance with Chinese regulations and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with relevant functions to address identified risks through corrective actions.
Stakeholder Management:
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders like senior management, business units, and associates to foster a robust compliance culture.
  • Offer guidance and support to business units in proactively managing compliance challenges.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as government authorities, legal advisors, and regulatory bodies for a collaborative approach to compliance issues.
What you will bring to Alcon: Qualifications and Skills:
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
  • Experience: Previous experience in compliance investigations, audits, risk management, or related fields.
  • Knowledge of Chinese compliance regulations.
  • Familiarity with anti-bribery and corruption (ABAC/FCPA) investigations is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify compliance breaches effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin Chinese for interviews, reports, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Cultural Awareness: Understanding of the local business culture and regulatory landscape in China to navigate compliance matters and establish suitable controls.
  • Integrity: High personal integrity and ethical conduct to maintain objectivity during investigations.
