Job Summary

Do you possess the confidence to take the lead, demonstrate initiative, be relied upon to delve into tasks, and contribute to building the most prominent industrial coatings resins company's brand, helping to simplify everyday tasks for individuals across the globe? allnex is calling you to join us as a Business Development Manager in Shanghai, China to broaden our global presence by skillfully uncovering and exploring new and undiscovered business prospects and partnerships. In this position, you will be the representative of allnex' additives business in the Chinese market and oversee customer lists and opportunities within the target segments. You will enhance and oversee interactions with current customers from both direct and indirect accounts, acting as the primary contact person to resolve customer concerns with the assistance of the local or regional Technical Service/R&D team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Foster growth in the coating additive business for both industrial coatings and architectural coatings.
  • Supervise the execution of new Additives promotional campaigns, concentrating on strategic product placement and potential developments in China.
  • Collaborate with the regional sales team, search for additional opportunities, and lead major projects.
  • Collaborate closely with TS&D groups to design new sales tools (SPF, panels, technical presentations, wet paint samples, etc.) to support the promotion of additives.
  • Work alongside the sales team, TS&D, and R&D to develop additives suitable for the Chinese market to drive business expansion.
  • Monitor competitors' major activities, furnish relevant competitive information to the commercial team (including product details, performance, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Regularly visit customers, collaborate closely with the sales team and distributors to address issues and provide solutions.
  • Aid in creating new product literature, bulletins, and technical presentations for local markets.
  • Observe local market trends, conduct market studies, and assess the competitive landscape.
  • Oversee local distribution channels for Additives to ensure strategic product distribution and profitability.
  • Generate sales leads and support cross Business Unit sales teams to ensure successful sales closures.
  • Work closely with Product Line Managers for all pertinent updates, pricing, and product assortment.
  • Engage actively with relevant departments to ensure on-time deliveries with top-notch quality.
  • Provide monthly reports summarizing Additives business development, product advancements, and technical support.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • 5 - 8 years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Technical Service, along with demonstrated proficiency in the chemical industry involving coating additives technologies.
  • Robust technical know-how or background in Additives.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate within a multicultural setting.
  • Proficient in English.
  • Outstanding communication abilities, both written and verbal, along with excellent presentation skills.
  • Proven track record in key account management and business/customer expansion in new markets or with new products.
  • Exceptional sales skills and commercial insight.
  • A proactive approach leading to commercial success.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • The capacity to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills and a knack for conceptual thinking.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. An MBA is considered a bonus.
