Job Description

The role

We are the Thermo Fisher NanoPort team. As the largest Electron Microscopy demo labs in the world, NanoPort team supports sales of all Electron Microscopy and Spectroscopy products through demonstrations and serves as a meeting place for Thermo Fisher Applications Scientists and customers to collaborate using NanoPort demo instruments. We provide technical and scientific expertise in the support of Thermo Fisher Scientific's Global sales efforts.

This is a Technical Application role, you will be part of a dedicated and professional service team whose responsibilities include all aspects of demonstration systems support including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and working with our Application Scientist team to ensure that the systems are in a good performance state. This position is primarily focused on supporting our SEM and SDB systems.

This role is primarily office-based but requires occasional travel to different NanoPort or customer sites. The position comes with a competitive salary and a yearly bonus. How will you make an impact?

We will work with Application Scientists to complete successful demonstrations. In doing so, we will help to increase customer satisfaction and build loyalty and chip in to the overall success of the business.

  • Provide SEM SDB instrument services, including installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing.
  • Diagnose & resolve product performance problems and customer queries/complaints.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio in SEM SDB and related subjects.
  • Contribute to high-value service-related procedures and documents.
  • Work closely with other departments to enhance customer experience.

How will you get here?

Education and Experience

  • Major in Electronics, Mechanics, Materials science, Biology, Physics, or other disciplines.
  • Experience in maintenance, repairing, and calibrating complex analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, SDB or similar systems.
  • Bachelor's degree, and 4+ years of related experience
  • Or Master's degree, and 2+ years of related experience
  • Or Doctoral degree (Ph.D.)
  • Experience in communicating technical materials in written and verbal form

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Good knowledge of SEM SDB.
  • Proven ability to maintain complex systems and subsystems down to component level.
  • Experience in maintenance and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems is highly desired.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Able to read and interpret schematics.
  • Able to connect with and support people effectively with varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise

  • Proficient in English
