Overview

The Asset Category Management division within APM Terminals' Procurement Organization is tasked with overseeing Global Category Management for all CAPEX and OPEX expenditures related to APM Terminals. This encompasses key areas such as Civil Engineering, Energy Solutions, Equipment Procurement, Decarbonization Initiatives, Automation Technologies, and Asset Lifecycle Management, including Maintenance and Repair.

Role Expectations

The individual in this role will collaborate closely with APM Terminals' global functions and over 65 business units worldwide. The primary responsibility is to leverage APM Terminals' key suppliers to support the strategic objectives of the organization through a methodical and disciplined approach to category management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate, drive, and implement category strategies.
  • Develop and execute strategic engagement models with essential suppliers.
  • Manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the development and execution of the Category scope, which includes the procurement of assets, technology, and services.

Additional Duties

  • Lead and execute procurement projects and processes within the designated Category Scope.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts and pricing.
  • Engage actively with technical functions and leaders across various Global Business Functions and Terminals.
  • Develop and manage key suppliers through APM Terminals' Supplier Relationship Management framework.
  • Assist business functions and units in resolving supplier delivery, quality, commercial, or contractual issues.
  • Drive accountability and deliver results on key financial and operational metrics, including cash discipline, cost savings, and asset utilization.
  • Act as a center of excellence for managed categories by thoroughly understanding products, their applications, suppliers, industry trends, competitive landscapes, future technologies, and innovations.
  • Coordinate with regional and local procurement teams to ensure effective negotiation and contract implementation, optimizing supplier synergies and streamlining engagement with business functions across relevant categories.
  • Champion the implementation of internal risk management and mitigation controls to ensure compliance with corporate policies and statutory regulations.

Candidate Profile

  • 3-5 years of experience in procurement or sales is preferred.
  • A technical degree and/or business management degree is advantageous.
  • Project Management experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in supplier/customer management and negotiations is a plus.
  • Strategy development and implementation experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, successfully completing tasks with excellent results while meeting deadlines.
  • Quick grasp of information and ability to contribute to problem-solving.
  • Efficient management of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are mandatory.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10-20% of work time.
