Job Title: Project Functional Safety Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Functional Safety Engineer to join our team at Mercedes-Benz Group China Ltd. in Shanghai, CN.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Functional Safety (FuSa) Engineering for ADAS and/or AD on system level according to ISO standards. This includes consolidating and maintaining HARA analysis, deriving and maintaining Functional Safety Concept (FSC), and performing necessary and sufficient safety analysis.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct FuSa Engineering according to ISO and Daimler guidelines and project RASCI
  • Consolidate and maintain HARA analysis based on input (item definition) for successful review/assessment
  • Derive and maintain Functional Safety Concept (FSC) based on HARA for successful review/assessment
  • Perform and maintain necessary and sufficient safety analysis based on highest ASIL-level of responsible system for successful review/assessment
  • Create FuSa requirements on system level based on FSC; align with all relevant interfaces (e.g. System development, allocated Components (incl. HW metrics)); request corresponding implementation of the FuSa requirements on system level
  • Support HW/SW team to reach end-to-end functional safety compliance
  • Conduct Functional Safety (FuSa) management with process conformity within company and/or concern and project based interface alignment
  • Ensure FuSa Millstones in project with necessary FuSa activities and working products according to safety plan
  • Align with relevant interfaces, if engineering content is necessary for specific alignment
  • Supplier safety management
  • Support system development with concept development based on regulatory and legal restrictions
  • Contribute with FuSa expertise during concept design
  • Concept evaluation from FuSa -Perspective
  • Support project-related discussion about CN-regulation/standards for FuSa and/or ADAS/AD
  • Contribute with experience on discussion to support standard drafting/lobbying activities of MB
Requirements:
  • Bachelor in automotive engineering, electrical engineering or a related field
  • Experience on FuSa Engineering of E/E systems according to ISO
  • Industrial experience in automotive industry – OEM or supplier
  • Software functional safety engineering experience
  • Development experience/ Internship of ADAS/AD system
  • Reliable language skills with English or German
  • Experience on Functional Safety according to ISO, FuSa Engineering, FuSa Management up to ASIL D
  • Knowledge about FuSa and QM methodology: HARA, FTA, DFA; FMEA
  • Fundamental knowledge about quality management, product development process in automobile industry
  • Ideally: Fundamental knowledge about neighbourhood topics of FuSa for AD, e.g. SOTIF;
