Alstom is a leading company in the mobility sector, dedicated to solving the most interesting challenges for tomorrow's mobility. We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Assurance Manager to join our team and contribute to our mission of making transportation smarter and more sustainable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and ensure the activities related to safety assurance in our Projects and Programs, ensuring the delivery of safe solutions.
  • Support the development of our safety roadmap and contribute to the safety activities of our projects and programs.
  • Manage safety resources, including Safety Assurance Managers and Safety Engineers, to ensure they have the necessary skills and capacity to meet the demands of our projects.
  • Manage budgets, including headcount and project/program costs, to ensure effective resource allocation.
Main Accountabilities
  • Support our safety team in any works related to safety analyses and safety issue management.
  • Support the development of our safety roadmap and contribute to the safety activities of our projects and programs.
  • Manage the workload of safety resources and allocate them in accordance with our regional budget or development center budget.
  • Manage and approve Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) commitments for bids and projects.
  • Develop and maintain the skills of our safety resources, manage training and mentoring, and ensure they have the necessary expertise to perform their duties.
  • Ensure the proper application of safety assurance methodologies, including risk acceptance criteria, safety analysis, verification, and validation, and the application of signalling and ADM safety instructions.
  • Deploy safety processes, methods, and tools in accordance with our central rules and safety instructions, and propose improvements based on our Return on Experience (ROE).
  • Act as the safety process correspondent and manage process reviews.
  • Ensure convergence between program/products and projects for safety-related topics, including scope, interface, schedule, and safety requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and ensure customer (internal or external) safety acceptance.
  • Review safety issues and support root cause identification and mitigation measures.
  • Review and validate all safety analyses in accordance with our safety instructions.
  • Implement the safety management cycle defined by our safety directors.
  • Maintain periodical reporting.

  • Safety referent (métier) for our regional center or development center.
Performance Measurements
  • KPI SAF 001 - No 'NO GO' for safety reasons in gate reviews.
  • KPI SAF 002 - Assessment findings: low rework due to external/internal assessments.
  • KPI SAF 003 - Safety findings: quality of inputs.
  • KPI SAF 004 - Late safety requirements identification.
  • Safety reviews OK.
  • Respect QCD commitments and OTD/DOT milestones.
  • Compliance to process (through inspections, process reviews...).
  • Quarterly dashboard including:
    • Competency matrix.
    • Workload vs capacity.
    • Consultant ratio.
    • Expertise WCE.
    • Process maturity/adherence.
  • Alignment with delivery plan roadmap.
  • K1 management.
Educational Requirements
  • Advanced university or engineering degree.
  • English operational in reading and writing for technical documentation.
  • System, electrical, electronics, electromechanical engineering knowledge.
Experience Requirements
  • Experience in team management.
  • Mastering full engineering cycle (from specification to validation tasks) and related interactions.
  • Mastering Cenelec standards for safety (or equivalent standards if needed: AREMA, IEEE, European TSI, etc.) and safety methodology & concepts/principles.
  • 5 years successful experience in safety assurance, including 2 years in railway business.
