Job Description

The T&PCS Product Line supervises the relevant business and provides a link between the market, internal teams, and external partners. As a General Manager, Product Sales and Product Management in Thrusters and Propulsion Control Systems, you will be responsible for the product sales and product management activities of the T&PCS. You will support the existing baseline products of transverse thrusters, steerable thrusters, and retractable thrusters, and work together with Global Marine Sales and Sales Engineering to ensure that thruster products are correctly promoted, marketed, and valued in the market.

Main Responsibilities
  • Be an inspirational leader for your direct team and stakeholders across the organisation.
  • Support your team members' personal development and ensure wellbeing of the team.
  • Be responsible for all product management related aspects of Wärtsilä's thruster portfolio.
  • Develop, update, and implement our long-term PL strategy.
  • Manage the thruster portfolio in close cooperation with your peers in the lifecycle business of Wärtsilä.
  • Work together with Global Marine Sales and Sales Engineering to ensure that thruster products are correctly promoted, marketed, and valued in the market.
  • Join relevant sales capture teams as per need.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of the markets by meeting customers and internal and external stakeholders frequently.
  • Support your team and Sales to open market possibilities for Wärtsilä's propulsion products in new segments and geographical areas.
  • Monitor sales pipeline, initiate, stimulate, and take necessary actions to improve the sales and profitability of the PL.
  • Develop product marketing plan together with marketing organisation.
  • Search for opportunities and give presentations in various events to improve visibility of our products and their value propositions.
Main Requirements
  • Master's degree in relevant discipline.
  • At least 8 years of relevant working experience in area of most modern new build project sales and/or new build product management, preferably in the marine propulsion sector.
  • Relevant line manager experience of minimum 3 years.
  • Excellent understanding of the maritime ship new building industry and insight in propulsion business.
  • Good level technical understanding of hydrodynamics and propulsion products.
  • Highly dynamic strong personal drive, used to taking own initiatives and being pro-active.
  • Commercial and customer-oriented mindset.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Leadership attitude and management skills as expected from senior leader.
  • Very good communication skills, professional use of English in verbal and writing.
