Job Summary:

The China Distribution and Logistics Lead will be responsible for leading the distribution of Waters Division and Clinical products to customers and service organizations in China. This position requires a highly experienced leader with demonstrated subject matter expertise who can act as the go-to individual in the field of distribution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the China Distribution Team to execute primary activities of Order Fulfillment, providing external and internal clients with ordered products on time, complete, and using efficient processes and distribution methods.
  • Manage a team of seven employees spanning Warehouse Operations, Trade Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain coordination & Planning/Buying.
  • Maintain and develop the workforce of the China DC in line with services required and using Waters corporation processes and practices.
  • Manage inbound and outbound flows from the DC, day-to-day warehouse operations, and minimize freight costs.
  • Build and own strong relationships with 3rd party warehouse and logistic vendors, manage their performance according to established KPIs, and drive improvements.
  • Actively manage inventory working with Global Planning; responsible for optimizing inventory levels, E&O, and warehouse space.
  • Create annual operating plans and ensure warehousing & logistics costs are in line with those plans.
  • Liaise with finance to analyze cost variance, prepare forecasts, and define action plans on a monthly basis.
  • Work seamlessly with the Greater China WD team and participate in S&OP to address stock shortage risk and allocation, ensuring the supply plan is aligned with sales targets.
  • Maintain and uphold compliance standards for quality, trade/customs, and IVD products; provide solutions to mitigate compliance risk.
  • Actively engage in the advancement & adoption of SAP and other tools to enhance distribution services and promote efficient processes.
  • Track and communicate the impact of external developments in China, events, and trends in the transportation area.
  • Identify and lead Continuous Improvement projects using Lean methodologies to enhance efficiency and optimize costs in logistics and distribution operations (OTIF, on-time delivery, etc.).
  • Further expand and modernize Waters' global distribution and logistics capabilities in China in conjunction with other global operations & WD functions.
  • Key member of the global freight RFQ team and all Waters division freight improvements.
  • Develop and implement a multi-year logistics strategy for the organization to meet China business growth needs.
  • Lead and/or actively participate in global programs; oversee the implementation of transformational strategies in multiple regions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Supply Chain, Distribution, Logistics.
  • Experience in a managerial role with a logistics service provider or the logistics organization of a manufacturing company.
  • People leader who leads by example and can implement processes & drive performance.
  • Self-starter, responsible, reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to handle data, perform analyses for decisions, and generate insightful reports and presentations.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, plus an ability to interact with a wide range of people – across functions and countries; with internal and external parties.
  • Experience with financial processes: budgeting, reporting, analysis of results.
  • Experience with an ERP system and planning concepts.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, tasks & day-to-day operations.
  • Flexible in thinking, can connect business requirements with operational possibilities.
