Role Overview

The Global Trade Compliance Program Manager will play a crucial role in supporting our operations across the APAC region by managing and enhancing the regional Global Trade Compliance program. This position will report to the Director of Import Compliance within the Ethics & Compliance team in the Legal Department, collaborating with a dedicated team of trade professionals globally.

In this capacity, you will:

  • Formulate and implement strategic trade compliance policies and initiatives for the APAC region.
  • Assist in the development and management of region-specific trade compliance procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct audits to assess trade compliance, identify potential risks, and drive corrective measures to enhance compliance.
  • Support global and regional trade compliance initiatives, including managing local compliance and regulatory filings.
  • Provide expert guidance to local teams on adherence to WDC Global Trade Compliance policies and relevant trade regulations.
  • Monitor and report on local and global trade regulations affecting the region, collaborating with global trade compliance colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Aid in the deployment of global Ethics & Compliance initiatives, including training and promoting a culture of trade compliance and ethics.
  • Address escalated Customs issues and manage export/sanction screenings.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in trade compliance, preferably within a technology or manufacturing context, with a focus on APAC customs regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Customs regulatory principles, including tariff classification, customs valuation, and country of origin.
  • A university degree or relevant certification in a related field.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • A solid business background, with a proven track record of translating trade compliance regulations into sustainable business processes.
  • Experience advising teams on navigating complex trade issues.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across various functions, including engineering and R&D.
  • A history of delivering results on multiple projects, with the capability to lead initiatives and work independently.
  • A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to compliance.
  • Resilience and adaptability to quickly adjust priorities to meet evolving business needs.
  • A proactive learner, eager to understand new technologies and stay informed about emerging trends.
  • Familiarity with import licensing programs and export/sanctions regulations is a plus.
