About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Credit Risk Manager to join our team at Manulife. As a key member of our credit risk management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and timeliness of credit approvals, and providing credit opinions independent of first-line management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough credit reviews for mainland China issuers, including sector and company-level analysis.
  • Provide credit approval for MSL fixed income investments up to delegated approval authority, and escalate as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Credit Asia to ensure adherence to group credit policies and procedures.
  • Assist in Quarterly Loan Review and related reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulatory standards and requirements.
  • Act as the 2nd line of defense for Credit risk management in MSL.
  • Support the CRO in managing credit quality of existing portfolios, including regular follow-ups and assessments of major credit events.
  • Review and assess proposed credit methodologies, country reviews, stress tests, and ad-hoc requests from Head Office.
  • Support the implementation of GA Credit Policies.
  • Monitor credit limit utilization and excess capacity, and advise on necessary internal approvals.
  • Coordinate with first-line management on credit-related inquiries from Head Office or Regional Office.
  • Assist in daily management of the Credit Analytics Teams.

Requirements

  • University graduate in Finance or Business Administration, with a professional degree (CFA or CPA) preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in banking or financial institutions, with at least 10 years of credit approval experience and sizable delegated authority.
  • Solid institutional credit analysis skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the mainland China credit markets.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin, with strong English writing skills.
  • Mature and disciplined personality with strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
