About the Role


• Develop and underwrite profitable Financial Lines offerings in alignment with business objectives.

• Collaborate with senior underwriters in the region to enhance underwriting expertise in Financial Lines.

• Ensure sustainable and profitable growth of the tailored Financial Lines portfolio by maintaining quality renewal business and pursuing profitable new business opportunities, guided by portfolio deal economics, market insights, research and development, effective pipeline management, legal developments, and emerging risks.

• Consistently demonstrate a strong ability to assess risks and underwrite business in accordance with profitability targets, underwriting guidelines, and established processes within authorized limits.

• Deliver sound and constructive underwriting decisions within agreed processes at the designated authority level to secure profitable business while adhering to the defined risk appetite. Ensure the integrity of information on relevant underwriting systems and guidelines by providing reasonable underwriting judgments within established processes.


• Exhibit proficiency in utilizing insurance-related systems (such as Manhattan, UW Cockpit, CorFlow, UWB);


• Collaborate cross-functionally with relevant functional groups and committees across the business to ensure that initiatives and related matters comply with underwriting and regulatory standards.


• Responsible for implementing the GC FinPro strategies and working closely with the Hong Kong FinPro team by sharing insights, information, and technical expertise.


• Conduct product training or promotional activities for trading partners, clients, and internal stakeholders as necessary.

• Cultivate strong business relationships with trading partners to enhance market presence and brand recognition.

• Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of reports and business strategy plans.

• Manage expenses in accordance with established plans.

About the Team

This position reports to the Head of Casualty FinPro Greater China, responsible for managing a profit and loss statement, including originating new business and driving quality revenue growth in line with strategic objectives and performance targets.


• Maintain the existing Financial Lines portfolio, focusing on renewal retention and originating new business to achieve portfolio performance as per business strategy.

• Underwrite and expand profitable Financial Lines in accordance with the China FinPro Strategy and CorSo Risk Appetite, with a focus on portfolio management.

• Proactively collaborate with the Head of Casualty FinPro Greater China and the Customer Distribution Community to identify and develop new business trading channels and robust pipelines aligned with target industries and product segments.

• Work collaboratively across functions to provide tailored insurance solutions and insights to meet customer needs.


• As a Market Facing Underwriter, proactively engage with business trading partners to generate business pipelines, building and strengthening trading relationships to deliver high-quality underwriting services.

• Stay informed about market developments and understand internal statistics, underwriting metrics, and collaborate closely with relevant internal and external stakeholders to trade business effectively and efficiently.

• Demonstrate agility and a willingness to embrace new working methods, taking on additional tasks and projects to support the overall objectives of the Greater China Casualty & Financial Lines community.

About You

Educational background
University degree or higher.

Professional experience

• 2-4 years of experience in Financial Lines underwriting or an accounting background. Experience with international or global companies is advantageous.

• Knowledge and understanding of Financial Lines or Casualty insurance principles and practices.

• Ability to understand and anticipate future market trends, legal landscapes, and competitive dynamics.
