Deputy Head of Marketing and Communications for DBT China and Hong Kong

Main Purpose of Job:

The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is seeking an exceptional communicator and team leader to join its team in China as Deputy Head of Marketing and Communications. This is an exciting opportunity to promote UK trade and investment across the world, contributing to the success of the UK's trade goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the creation and implementation of a strategic marketing and communications plan for DBT China and Hong Kong.
  • Develop and execute a digital strategy to increase DBT's digital footprint in China and enhance its impact on digital and social channels.
  • Manage a team of marketing and communications specialists, providing guidance and support to ensure excellent line management and team performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including FCDO Communications Network, GREAT Teams, and other government department colleagues.
  • Develop and implement robust mechanisms for resource and financial accountability, ensuring effective management of marketing and communications budgets.
Requirements:
  • Strategic communications and written skills.
  • Proven campaign planning and evaluation experience.
  • Line and project management experience.
  • Media relations experience.
  • Excellent/highly proficient in English and independent/good in Mandarin.

  • A competitive package, including a gross monthly salary of CNY 32,437 for Chinese Nationals and an abated salary of CNY 42,268 for British Nationals and spouses/partners of diplomats who are 'W' (diplomatic) visa holders and meet passport criteria.

  • 22 days annual leave entitlement in pro-rata, increasing by 0.5 per full calendar year worked up to a maximum of 25 days.

Working Patterns:

35 hours of work per week from Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:30. There may be occasions that require working outside normal hours.
