Axcelis Technologies develops innovative capital equipment for the semiconductor industry, and in particular, for the Ion Implantation step in the fabrication of semiconductor devices. Our Ion Implanter software ranges from low level device control of robotics and other physical components through generic framework middleware, infrastructure and data management to either an end user GUI or the integration of the equipment into the customer’s host systems via the SEMI standards.

This complex, distributed software is written in C/C++/C#/Oracle and uses MS Windows and VxWorks operating systems.

This role is for a creative, self-motivated software engineer to support our customer base to install and utilize our cutting-edge equipment. This position is geared toward penetrating and stabilizing the dynamic opportunities in China. Preference will be given to local candidates with local language competency.

Responsibilities:

Participate in the Software Development Process:Submit requirements based on customer input and field experience.Review specifications and designs as a customer advocate.Review release notes and be prepared to explain new features and bug fixes to customers.Present new software releases to the customer base. Travel to customer factories as needed to provide timely and effective software support. Support the installation of new software releases. Not necessarily to perform the installations, but to be ready to quickly respond to any issues. Diagnose, document and resolve software issues in the field. Interface with Product Teams, mechanical, electrical, system and other software engineers. Work closely with Product Team including software & hardware engineers, process engineers scientists and marketing to develop requirements and design definition for software features. Work with Product Support to investigate and resolve field reported issues on released products. Work with Software Quality Group to test on both Implanter Hardware and on Product simulators. Work both individually and as a member of cross functional teams. Collaborate with the Software team in the factory to develop and test software updates and enhancements. Conduct training sessions for customers on how to use our software products effectively. Maintain accurate and detailed records of customer interactions and issue resolutions.

Requirements:

Experience with command level scripting for MS Windows and other operating systems. C/C++ programming skills. PowerShell scripting skills. Oracle DB maintenance skills . Systems Management Experience with MS Windows. Experience with high speed real-time data acquisition is a plus. A team-player attitude and strong written and verbal communication skills are a must. Ability to travel and to work in a Clean Room environment. Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Education

Minimum BS CS or related Engineering degree with experience in software development for electro-mechanical systems

Experience

Minimum 8-10 years’ experience in SW Product Support, SW Development, SQA or Information Technology.

Experience with the following, a plus, but not required :

Experience with Manufacturing Communication protocols, specifically SECS/GEM. Experience developing SQL scripts. Vacuum system hardware and control; pumps, gauges, valves RF and microwave generators MKS Macro node (or other) Modbus controllers Ethernet TCP/IP and RS-232 communication interfaces Systems experience in Ion beam generation and control Systems experience in Plasma physics
