Senior Data Governance Manager, HSBC Fintech

This Role is responsible for managing HSBC's appetite to comply with risk, business and regulatory priorities, and seeking to strengthen the risk culture within the organization, through the creation and implementation of policies that set the global standard. Areas of coverage include, but are not limited to, implementation of data governance, data management, data protection, data controls and data strategy for Pinnacle.
Senior Data Governance Management jobs have responsibility for ensuring data assets are consumed, managed and governed in accordance with prevailing internal and external rules. Additionally, this job manages initiatives to embed and maintain a culture across HSBC where good data management practices prevail.
We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.
In this role, you will:
Manage data governance activities, ensuring data practices comply with requirements of the law and regulatory of all geographies under remit
Accountable for definition of HSBC data governance guidelines, procedures, standards, methods, tools and processes and ensure enforcement
Manage initiatives which serve to implement, improve and maintain good data management practices
Implement sustainable operating models for data activities in the remit area
Ensure good practices in the management of data tools, reference data, data standards, data frameworks and templates
Ensure these are fitting for business needs and comply with prevailing regulations
Take ownership, either wholly or in part, for the management, monitoring and mitigation of operational risk in the field of data management
Work with internal stakeholders to determine business needs in the areas of data maintenance, data governance, risk management and data good practice
Manage governance for working groups and decision making forums
Manage external service providers
Ensure data teams and key stakeholders are kept abreast of developments in good data management and data governance practices
Provide assistance in ensuring that the operating methods and aims of the data governance office are aligned to the prevailing methodologies within the remit area
This Role sits in PINF Business Control and Transformation team, and is responsible for the following areas working alongside with other members in the data governance team:
Deliver Data Governance related Policy implementation.
Deliver Data Strategy and Annual Planning.
Deliver Data Standard and Data Quality enhancement implementation.
Deliver Data Privacy By Design and Data Flow Management implementation.
Deliver The DSL, PIPL program & Cross-Border Assessment implementation.
Deliver Data governance and control standard & requirement for Project Management and PODs.
Deliver Data Visa or data governance related cases review and control implementation for each PODs & Business Functions.
Deliver the data forum and support for the data committees.

RequirementsTo be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
Minimum 10 years of management experience leading a data governance and or regulatory data reporting team within a global firm, in the financial services industry; Significant data governance and or Regulatory Compliance experience is required.Planning and Project management experience is a plus
Excellent understanding of data management practices master data management, data quality and information lifecycle management
Excellent experience in performing data analysis and requirements gathering for a data warehouse or similar data projects
Educated to degree level in Legal, Finance, Business Administration, Technology or related field; Master degree preferred.
Ability to articulate issues concisely in the language of the business and communicate effectively and confidently across cultures and at all levels of the organization
Proven ability to analyze situations and solve complex issues
An excellent understanding of the current regulatory environment and expectations, relevant regulations, codes, and HSBC Group Standards, as well as their underlying purpose to mitigate risk to the financial system and provide information useful for the public sector to provide law enforcement and security
A strong team player and able to work with other business and functional teams member
Proven behavior to do the right thing, take accountability personally, demonstrating good time management and commitment to the assigned deliverables
Track record of positive interactions with Senior Executives and across the business and functions
Demonstrable insurance business knowledge
Understanding of HSBC strategy, organization, systems and processes
Knowledge of the external environment – regulatory, political, competitors etc.
Drive and motivation to ensure delivery in a challenging environment
Relationship management, collaboration and influencing skills
Proficiency in Mandarin and English is a must
