The China Channels & Ecosystem department is a critical group setup for building up the core capabilities for LEGO digital transformation for China Market。

Core Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer drives a product team to take technical ownership and responsibility for the range of applications within a product as defined by the LEGO Technology domain map. Sets the technical direction and establishes the practices for their area, ensuring alignment to the overall architecture for the domain and to established technical strategies across Digital Technology. Active participation and contribution to cross organizational initiatives and communities are also expected from the lead engineer.

  • Acts as the technical representative of frontend technologies for digital product teams.
  • Builds effective relationships and participate in interactions with a broader stakeholder group outside Digital Technology alongside the product owner. Leads on user/customer collaboration throughout all stages of work.
  • Creates domain-wide strategic input on tools and technologies to support decision-making processes. Ensure that architecture and technology choices are captured and documented.
  • Provides technical leadership for the entire team using coaching and mentoring, and proactive in technology space – researches and evaluates software products, tools, techniques, and methodologies.
  • Has significant influence over the management of resources appropriate to given assignments.
  • Works under broad direction by self-initiated but is expected to align with the overall objectives of digital products, subdomain and domain.
  • Fully responsible for meeting technical objectives and strategies. Helps establish own or team objectives. Play a significant role in translating these into tasks, features and/or responsibilities. Support the backlog prioritization adding the architecture and engineering perspective, based on business values.
  • Spars with competency leads regarding team/people skillsets and opportunities for growth, improvement, and training.

Do you have what it takes?

  • Excellent communication, presentation, conflict management, critical thinking and leadership skills (e.g. coaching, mentoring, etc.).
  • 8+ years of solution/architecture design experience in web-based/mobile applications/systems, considering scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Hands-on experience of inhouse-built, enterprise-level customer facing web-based or mobile applications/solutions.
  • Hands-on experience of frontend technologies (e.g. HTML/CSS/JavaScript, etc.) and frameworks (e.g. React/Angular/Vue.js, etc).
  • Solid knowledge of web APIs and build tools.
  • Hands-on experience of cloud platform (e.g. AWS, Azure).
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies and experienced within working with and in, agile development teams.
  • Drives a product team to take technical ownership and responsibility for the range of applications within a product as defined by the LEGO Technology domain map.
  • Sets the technical direction and establishes the practices for their area, ensuring alignment to the overall architecture for the domain and to established technical strategies across Digital Technology.
  • Active participation and contribution to cross organizational initiatives and communities are also expected from the lead engineer.
