General Purpose of Job

The Commercial Director, North Asia is responsible for delivering profitable growth by managing the sales team and coordinating multi-functional resources across different countries in North Asia. A key purpose is to provide leadership, insight and guidance to the entire team to ensure the execution of the sales and profit growth strategy.

Prioritized Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Ensures Huntsman EH&S values & Business Conduct guidelines are implemented in the commercial activities. Responsible for overseeing the delivery of the North Asia business strategies with a focus on both developing new business and growing existing business. Provides leadership through a range of interactions and drives the progress of the business performance. Provides direction, coaching or solutions to address commercial issues such as supply, allocation, customer complaints, technical service and market development. Contributes to the development of the strategies and growth projects through the day-to-day activities and formal structured commercial meetings, the incumbent ensures that the teams stay on track in implementing the agreed strategies and take corrective action in response to any issues which may arise. Contributes to the achievement of working capital targets Contributes as an active member of the HPP APAC Leadership team(APLT). Works with other functions to optimize the return on the employed assets. Works closely with leaders from other regions and global teams to maximize HPP profitability as a whole. Provides guidance and coaching to next level managers in organization and develop talents.

Education and Experience

The incumbent will require at least 15 years’ relevant experience in chemical industry with at least 5 years in senior commercial leadership role. Bachelor degree in chemical-related disciplines is preferred. A strong understanding of sales, marketing and financial concepts and the business process is required. Strong analytical and decision-making skills are required to ensure sound business judgements on resource allocation value added activities. The jobholder must possess excellent communication skills, tact and diplomacy to effectively interact with senior personnel internally and externally. The incumbent should have good strategic thinking, analytical skills and demonstrated ability to obtain, evaluate and make use of business intelligence. The incumbent is required to act and communicate effectively across functional, cultural and international boundaries, well-developed thinking and influencing competencies are essential. The incumbent needs to be resilient, resourceful, adaptable and calm under pressure. The incumbent should have strong leadership in building a high performance organization.
