Job Summary

International Flavors & Fragrances is seeking an experienced Application Scientist to join our Animal Nutrition team in Shanghai, China. As an Application Scientist, you will be responsible for establishing current and future in-feed enzyme assays, handling microbiology and molecular biological analysis, and ensuring good interactions with existing and future laboratory teams in other countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain current and future in-feed enzyme assays, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Conduct microbiology and molecular biological analysis, including End-Point PCR and qPCR analysis related to Gut health services.
  • Interact with IFF Animal Nutrition laboratory service teams in other countries to learn, understand, and practice routine in-feed enzyme assays.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for routinely used assays.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and high standards of quality.
  • Perform quality control (QC) checking of assays and data on a routine basis.
  • Liaise with third-party laboratory service suppliers to outsource certain analyses, when appropriate.
  • Assess competitor product offerings to support differentiation arguments.
  • Standardize and develop new methods to support product offerings and increase customer base.
  • Calibrate and maintain critical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintain stocks of chemicals and consumables.

Requirements

  • M.Sc in Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, or Molecular biology with 9+ years of experience.
  • Basic knowledge of a food/feed laboratory and good understanding of enzyme application.
  • Independent working ability and excellent interpersonal skills both internally and externally.
  • Good knowledge of analytical techniques like HPLC, Gas Chromatograph, Ion Chromatography, etc.
