ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Application Manager for Personal Care is tasked with the advancement of hair care and bath & shower innovations aligned with the regional marketing strategy to ensure effective technical delivery. The role requires enhancing in-depth technological expertise within the designated area. Daily coordination and management of resources for laboratory operations in Shanghai are essential for providing adequate support.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technology Development and Implementation

  • Recognize unmet needs or technical deficiencies and collaborate with regional marketing, technical, and commercial teams to develop a pipeline of regional innovation projects, leading the creation of new applications and technologies for the APAC region. This includes overseeing assigned projects by systematically designing experiments, conducting tests, generating reliable data, drawing accurate conclusions, and promptly reporting results to facilitate business growth.
  • Work alongside global technical and marketing teams to leverage global expertise, enhance regional capabilities, and implement them in local projects.
  • Boost personal care technical knowledge for the APAC team by introducing new methodologies, practices, and insights.
  • Collaborate with pilot-line and manufacturing teams to ensure the progress and successful delivery of technical transfers and local development projects.
  • Support regional open innovation initiatives and advance external collaborative projects.
  • Strengthen Lubrizol's presence in industrial associations, academic institutions, and the market by presenting at key trade shows and exhibitions, publishing research papers, conducting webinars, or filing patents.

Sales Support

  • Provide assistance to regional sales and marketing teams in engaging key customers through technical service support and customer project development, with a primary focus on personal care (hair care and bath & shower) for both global and regional key accounts.
  • Ensure timely and effective technical training for sales, marketing teams, and distributor partners.

Laboratory Management

  • Lead, supervise, and nurture the application team to achieve high efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with and maintenance of safe work practices at all times.
  • Maintain current knowledge of products, formulations, processes, and other technical expertise.

REQUIREMENTS (education, experience, competencies, and specific job requirements):

  • A Master's degree or higher in polymer science, material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Extensive experience in the personal care sector is highly desirable.
  • Experience in polymer, formulation, process, and product development is strongly preferred.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the customer base, formulation practices, technical development status, or trends in various Asia Pacific countries is a significant advantage.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to drive results across diverse environments.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
