Accountability:

The Technical Service and Application Development Specialist will be responsible for providing technical support to customers in the surface protection business, including problem-solving, product recommendation, and technical consulting. They will work closely with the surface protection marketing team to identify new development opportunities, develop application development plans, and execute projects according to project milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill day-to-day technical service operations, including customer visits, on-site troubleshooting, sales project support, and other tasks.
  • Measure, monitor, and maintain customer relationships, developing strong customer bonds through problem-solving, product recommendation, and sales project development execution.
  • Fulfill technical work requests, design experiments, perform lab bench work to analyze and write reports to meet technical targets of customer projects.
  • Develop related application processing skills and knowledge, train customer technicians in the lab, and provide technical service/trouble shooting in the field.
  • Work closely with the surface protection marketing team and customers to explore new application development opportunities, conduct feasibility studies, and implement projects.
  • Lead regional PPMP projects as technical leaders, monitor and report milestones timely and effectively.
  • Define project planning and prioritization, manage project execution in line with Estane's project guidelines, ensure project objectives, deliverables, and milestones are met within agreed budgets, timing, and quality standards.
  • Develop customized test protocols/simulation capabilities and create application databases.
  • Provide technical presentations to customers and commercial partners, maintain close contact with the industry, and stay updated on the latest technology developments.
  • Communicate with the Lubrizol technical community, stay updated on new application development and new processing technology development activities.
  • Support requirements with other technical personnel in the region.

Requirements – Education, Experience, Skills:

  • Education Background: Master's Degree or above in chemistry and polymer or related field.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Extrusion processing technology preferred.
  • Film science, injection molding, colorants & dispersants, coating, and/or adhesive application know-how will be added value.
  • Other Experiences Preferred:
  • Min. 6 years after master graduation or min. 3 years after got a doctor degree industrial working experience of product and application development at multinational national chemical company, additional technical service experiences are beneficial.
  • In-depth understanding of polymer structure-processing-property relationship, hands-on experience in polymer formulation design & processing.
  • Strong analytical and problem anticipation & solving skills; innovative, creative, and agility to think outside the box of common sense and generate novel technical approaches.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication, presentation, and listening skills; ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences (internal & external), strongly influence and convince team members to make right decisions together.
  • Highly motivated towards goals & objectives.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills; multi-tasking.
  • Fluency in oral and written English communication and good presentation skills are needed.
