APAC Personal Care Applications Specialist

ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Personal Care Applications Manager is tasked with the innovation of hair care and bath & shower technologies, aligning with the regional marketing strategy to ensure effective technical delivery. This role aims to deepen technological expertise within the designated area and oversee daily operations at the Shanghai laboratory to provide adequate support.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technology Development and Implementation
- Identify unmet needs or technical deficiencies and collaborate with regional marketing, technical, and commercial teams to establish a pipeline of regional innovation projects, leading the creation of new applications and technologies for the APAC region. Manage assigned projects by systematically designing experiments, conducting tests, generating reliable data, drawing accurate conclusions, and promptly reporting results to facilitate business growth.
- Work in partnership with global technical and marketing teams to leverage global expertise, enhance regional capabilities, and implement these insights into regional projects.
- Advance personal care technical knowledge for the APAC team by introducing innovative methodologies, practices, and insights.
- Collaborate with plant pilot-line and manufacturing teams to ensure the progress and successful delivery of technical transfers and local internal development projects.
- Support regional open innovation initiatives and advance collaborative external projects.
- Enhance The Lubrizol Corporation's visibility in industrial associations, universities, and the market by presenting at key trade shows and exhibitions, publishing research papers, conducting webinars, or filing patents.
Sales Support
- Assist regional sales and marketing teams in engaging key customers through technical service support and customer project development, with a primary focus on personal care (hair care and bath & shower) for both global and regional key accounts.
- Ensure timely and effective technical training for sales, marketing teams, and distributor partners.
Laboratory Management
- Supervise, lead, and nurture the application team to achieve high efficiency and operational excellence.
- Ensure adherence to and maintenance of safe work practices at all times.
- Maintain current knowledge of products, formulations, processes, and other technical expertise.
REQUIREMENTS (education, experience, competencies, and specific job requirements):
- A Master's degree or higher in polymer science, material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive experience in the personal care industry is highly desirable.
- Experience in polymer, formulation, process, and product development is highly advantageous.
- A thorough understanding of the customer base, formulation practices, technical development status, or trends in various Asia Pacific countries is a significant advantage.
- Strong project management skills.
- Effective leadership and interpersonal skills to drive results across diverse environments.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
