**Overview of the Position

Copeland is seeking a seasoned Chief Compliance Officer to oversee the development and implementation of central initiatives within the Regulatory Compliance Department in China. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading projects and providing mentorship to Emerson Businesses in compliance with regulations and corporate policy.

**Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum

**Job Description:

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develops and implements central initiatives for the Regulatory Compliance Department in China, collaborating with the Director, Regulatory Compliance, to lead projects and ensure adherence to company policies and regulations.
  2. Mentors Emerson Businesses in China on compliance best practices, providing guidance and support to address regulatory requirements and program improvement initiatives.
  3. Manages compliance tools and ensures location records and self-assessments are up-to-date, developing and implementing standards, guidelines, and self-assessment requirements as needed.
  4. Conducts due diligence on third-party vendors and new acquisitions, assisting in investigations of suspected policy violations related to Regulatory Compliance practice areas.
  5. Provides authoritative advice on Regulatory Compliance matters, using data analysis to identify procedural deficiencies and develop reports to address them.
  6. Supports strategic planning and roadmap development efforts to align with Emerson's legal team objectives.
  7. Liaises with project collaborators and serves as the China Regulatory Compliance liaison, facilitating communication and ensuring effective collaboration.
  8. Responds to partner concerns and questions from businesses and the Legal team, maintaining collaborative relationships with compliance and Legal team members.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree required, with meaningful work experience in Legal and Compliance and direct experience supervising and leading teams, projects, and programs in the Legal Department.
  • Subject-matter expertise in relevant US export control regulations and trade compliance locally, with a validated understanding of environmental compliance and anti-corruption principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent oral and written English and Chinese language skills.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and provide innovative solutions, with a strong track record of process improvement and leadership.
