Position Overview

The Trade Compliance Manager is responsible for overseeing and enforcing trade compliance protocols to ensure that the organization adheres to all applicable local, national, and international regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Policy Development: Formulate and execute trade compliance policies and procedures to maintain regulatory adherence.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Keep abreast of evolving trade regulations and relay pertinent updates to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Risk Assessment: Perform regular audits and evaluations to uncover potential compliance challenges and devise strategies to mitigate associated risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside various departments, including legal, finance, logistics, and procurement, to ensure comprehensive compliance throughout the supply chain.
  • Employee Training: Offer guidance and training to staff on trade compliance issues, covering import/export regulations, restricted parties, and customs obligations.
  • Documentation Management: Oversee import and export documentation processes, including classification, licensing, and record-keeping.
  • External Coordination: Liaise with external entities such as customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate compliant and efficient goods movement.
  • Incident Management: Address any trade compliance violations or incidents, conducting thorough investigations and implementing necessary corrective measures.
  • Reporting: Prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory bodies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Business Administration, or a related discipline; a master's degree is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in trade compliance, customs, or international logistics.
  • Comprehensive understanding of global trade regulations, including import/export controls, trade sanctions, and customs processes.
  • Strong familiarity with trade compliance software and systems.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the capability to interpret complex regulations and implement effective compliance strategies.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and excellent communication abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with both internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Professional certifications in trade compliance, such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Certified Export Specialist (CES), are beneficial.
