Strategic Legal Advisor for Greater China Region

Role Summary:

As a Senior Legal Counsel for Asia Pacific at Goodyear, you will provide strategic legal counsel to management and their teams in Greater China, executing with a high level of independence and minimal oversight. You will be responsible for establishing subject-matter expertise around key legal areas, proactive monitoring of upcoming laws and regulations, and management of major disputes and litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective and strategic legal counsel to management and their teams in Greater China, ensuring compliance with Goodyear policies and guidelines.
  • Establish subject-matter expertise around key legal areas, including regulatory compliance, trade sanctions and controls, litigation strategy, intellectual property, and risk management.
  • Proactively monitor upcoming laws and regulations, participate in advocacy, and provide early strategic advice in anticipation of changes.
  • Manage major disputes and litigation matters, developing effective strategies toward resolution.
  • Design and execute legal training programs tailored to business needs and legal environment.
  • Act as a legal representative of the company, participating in external associations as applicable.

Requirements:

  • PRC law degree and a professional legal qualification.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English.
  • 10+ years of working experience at a multinational law firm, top-tier Chinese law firm, and/or multinational company.
  • 3+ years of experience advising multinational companies or matters.
  • Proven experience in general corporate and commercial issues in-house or in private practice.
  • Multi-jurisdictional experience and familiarity with cross-border transactions and legal counseling.
  • Excellent legal and strategic judgment, coupled with strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions.
  • Highest level of integrity and commitment to compliance and ethics.
