Position Overview

  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with customer technical teams, comprehending their requirements and industry trends.
  • Ensure success in engaging customers technically during the early phases of product innovation, leading to product design integration, leveraging a solid understanding of materials engineering and mechanics of materials.
  • Lead technical initiatives with customers and deliver analyses and technical insights to the development team for validation of specifications to meet customer needs.
  • Guide related cross-functional teams in testing and characterization, analyze technical data, and take responsibility for preparing technical documentation for customer communication.

Education & Experience

  • Over 10 years of experience in materials science or engineering, holding an MS or PhD – ideally in Mechanics of Materials/Reliability, particularly concerning glass materials.

Essential Skills

  • Strong foundation in mechanics of materials and materials engineering, with experience in mechanical behavior and glass/ceramics characterization.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering, statistical analysis, and practical testing.
  • Exceptional communication skills, comfortable in customer interactions and facilitation.
  • Proven ability to independently analyze, document test outcomes, follow up, and communicate effectively.
  • Capability to resolve complex issues requiring meticulous attention to detail and the ability to distill information to its essential elements.
  • Quickly absorb new concepts, knowledge, and technologies to a functional level, effectively applying newly acquired knowledge to new scenarios and applications.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in driving root cause analysis and recommending technical corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and optical characterization techniques and equipment.
  • Experience in product engineering related to glass/ceramics.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and reliability tools.
  • Experience in leading technical project teams and supporting new product development and introduction.
  • Experience collaborating with customers and/or suppliers.
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams without permanently assigned resources.
  • Understanding of touch technologies and related cover glass fabrication processes.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively in both Chinese and English.

  • Strong interpersonal skills essential for establishing and maintaining external relationships.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple engagements/projects simultaneously.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to complete tasks independently.

  • Travel Requirements: Up to 75% National, less than 10% International.
