Senior Procurement Strategist, APAC Field Materials

Johnson Controls seeks a highly skilled Senior Category Buyer to lead project spend for the APAC region. This role is responsible for supplier scouting, selection, and management, as well as negotiating prices and contracts.

The ideal candidate will develop and execute a category strategy that supports the company's profitable growth plans. They will be the primary owner of cost savings and working capital improvements.

  • Drive year-over-year improvement in field material spend through supplier negotiation.
  • Optimize working capital through supplier payment term management.
  • Develop a comprehensive field material category strategy by category cluster, implementing it in sourcing decisions for field projects.
  • Manage supplier relationships and develop strategies to effectively optimize the supply base.
  • Monitor supplier performance, organizing regular business reviews with suppliers.
  • Negotiate and maintain contracts and supply conditions.
  • Provide insights into supply base market intelligence and dynamics, identifying new suppliers to support business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related Business Degree.
  • Proven experience in sourcing/procurement, preferably with Fire, HVAC, Security, and Controls knowledge.
  • Ability to handle APAC region responsibilities.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, with experience in building compelling cases and convincing others.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage strategic relationships.
  • Adaptable in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience working in multicultural teams.
  • Preference for candidates with experience in innovative, cost-driven environments.
  • International trade experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP.
  • Data analysis skills and sensitivity.
  • Ability to optimize supplier bases and possess strong sourcing skills.

Salary Estimate:$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on location and experience.
