Director of Policy & Business Affairs, China

Dolby Laboratories is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our policy and business affairs efforts in China. As a key member of our Asia-Pacific team, you will be responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with Chinese government authorities, policy-makers, industry/trade associations, and academic institutions relevant to our business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement government relations strategy and programs on complex matters, leveraging your deep knowledge of Chinese government institutions, networks, and policy-making procedures.
  • Establish and maintain long-term, constructive relationships with key Chinese government authorities, including NRTA, CFA, MIIT, MOFCOM, CNIPA, SAC, SAMR, NDRC, and the Central Publicity Department.
  • Monitor, anticipate, and analyze key policy, regulatory, and legislative developments that may impact our business and commercial partnerships, particularly developments relevant to intellectual property rights, standard essential patents, and competition law.
  • Communicate and partner internally with business units to ensure continual alignment and effective execution.
Requirements:
  • At least 10 years of related work experience in government service, in-house government relations at a multinational technology corporation, industry/trade association, or political consulting agency with an emphasis on the technology sector.
  • Strong business acumen, with a track record of developing and implementing government relations strategy and programs on complex matters.
  • Fluency in Chinese and English, with the ability to bridge cultural differences and succeed in a cross-cultural environment.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to supporting and effectively partnering with colleagues across business functions and regions.
