About the role

You will be functioning as the first interlocutor with industry associations, general media and government institutions. You will shape and strengthen the public relations and communications activities for Nexperia in China. More broadly, The Senior Manager - Advocacy & Alliances will build and guard Nexperia’s reputation in China, creating a positive image and appearance.

You will report to the Head of Advocacy & Alliances, based in Europe, and will in addition work closely together with the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and members of the Marketing Communications team.

What you will do

Establish and maintain communication channels with relevant government departments, as well as other external organizations. Set-up and drive activities or campaigns that strengthen cooperation with external stakeholders and enhance Nexperia’s positive image. Develop lines of communication with relevant authorities to ensure that Nexperia’s position and interests in China are well represented. This may encompass subjects such as investment regulation, funding programs, certification requirements, R&D policy, and export controls. representing Nexperia in relevant industry associations. In close cooperation with Nexperia’s technical teams. Developing relations with local & national media and acting as Nexperia’s first point of contact in China for general press inquiries. You cooperate closely with the Marketing Communications team. supporting Nexperia with developing its CSD program and setting up relevant campaigns. Supporting the company’s relations with academia and facilitating funding applications. Flexible handling of potential crises or emergencies. Contributing to the development of a strong public affairs and communications competence. You will divide your time between Shanghai and Beijing, with occasional traveling to Shenzhen. Sporadic traveling abroad, such as to the company headquarters in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, may be required.

What you will need

The ideal candidate understands China’s industrial ecosystem, possesses in-depth understanding of governmental decision-making processes, and has experience with developing communication campaigns as well as with crisis communication. 

At least 7 years track record in Public Affairs and Communications positions in the industry. A high awareness of- and a sensitivity to geo-political developments and potential implications. Good strategic acumen and ability to plan & execute advocacy campaigns. Entrepreneurial ‘can do’ attitude with a track record in crisis management. The capability to build bridges and guide discussions towards mutually beneficial outcomes. The ability to take the lead and ‘own’ initiatives, while working with colleagues across departments.

The Advocacy & Alliances is a new team and part of the recently formed Corporate Affairs department, which also includes Global Communications & Branding and Digital Marketing.
