As part of the Commercial Strategy and Innovation group within the Business Innovation (BI) organization, Pfizer's Competitive Intelligence (CI) Center of Excellence is uniquely positioned to support this goal.
The CI Team, with colleagues at Pfizer's New York Headquarters and an EU-based Research and Analysis team, includes subject-matter experts from a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences. Together we collaborate to provide Pfizer leadership with competitive assessments curated and crystalized into actionable insights that enable industry-leading, enterprise-focused decision-making for early- and late-stage pipeline assets across Pfizer's Business Innovation, R&D (ORD and PRD), Digital, and commercial organizations.
The Industry Insights Guide with a focus on, but not limited to, Pfizer's Oncology pipeline, will work in close collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams and senior leaders to represent and align on a unified view of the external micro and macro business environment within or ahead of internal discussions, business planning, key processes, and decision-making forums.
ROLE SUMMARY
Under the guidance of the United States-based Director, the External Insights Guide, will execute the External Insights research plan, researching the external pharmaceutical micro and macro business environment to develop strategic insights and analysis for key internal discussions, business planning and decision-making forums for pipeline, business development, and category initiatives.
The Guide will perform secondary research, analyzing multiple sources of publicly-disclosed information (databases, regulatory filings, company disclosures, industry reports, analyst commentary, etc) to identify and communicate industry, company, therapeutic area and candidate-level changes/updates across external environment, create clinical data and trial comparisons for known external pipeline candidates, forecast external candidate milestones and timelines, and prepare asset and company deep dives.
This individual will partner with global teams across Pfizer's commercial development and business development teams and interact with representatives from other cross-functional partners to help define company, category and candidate specific strategies.
The Guide will have an analytical approach and a storyteller in communication style, with the ability to crystalize multiple data sources into a comprehensive and convincing output that has the ability to recruit and educate internal partners. A successful candidate will also have the ability to independently prepare and derive actionable insights and share them in various formats and venues with partners across the organization.
The Guide will be an individual with high integrity that can defend their professional point of view during interactions with subject matter experts and cross-functional partners. This individual will collaborate with CSI CI leaders to continue drive strategic thought partnership across the organization and help drive the mission and vision of the CSI CI Oncology team.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
Understand and internalize business and therapeutic area goals, strategy, objectives, and tactics Contribute knowledge and expertise to decision-making forums, representing the external environment both independently and in collaboration with CSI CI team membersIn partnership with CSI CI, CSI Category, and Business Development leaders define, develop and execute the secondary research plan, reporting and alerting its outcomes in a timely mannerExecute internal secondary research, including monitoring, analysis and reporting of the external preclinical, clinical and commercial landscape, as well as clinical data and timelines in areas aligned to Pfizer's research and development interestsWhen needed to supplement internal research, identify, select in coordination with internal stakeholders, and manage external research vendorsEnsure that all generated reports, insights and other outputs/deliverables are archived and accessible in the team's knowledge management systemsAct as liaison to and partner with local CSI and business development teamsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3 years of experience working in strategy, consulting or related roles in healthcare/pharma Advanced life science degree preferred (Minimum MSc) with a preference for advanced degree holders who have a focus in business, medicine, or science Interest and/or expertise in therapeutic and disease areas aligned to Pfizer's research and development programs Broad knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, global healthcare environment as well as multinational and local pharmaceutical companies Service-oriented, highly collaborative, self-motivated, curious, and results-oriented#LI-PFE
