Compliance Manager Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Manager to join our team in Shanghai, China.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the China Compliance Senior Manager in fostering a culture of ethics and compliance, and lead various compliance projects to ensure the company's growth in China remains on track.
  • Conduct thorough compliance reviews and approvals of various activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and provide training to ensure effective policy implementation.
  • Identify and monitor compliance risks, coordinate control improvements, and track implementation status. Provide ad hoc risk monitoring and audit support as needed.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance to the business on compliance matters, and take a lead role in key decision-making processes to ensure appropriate decisions are made.
  • Support compliance initiatives such as risk assessments, Compliance Week, and Compliance Champions, and follow up on remediation actions.
  • Support due diligence screening on third-party engagements, identify red flags, and suggest follow-up actions to mitigate risks.
  • Support investigations as needed.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 6-8 years of work experience in compliance and/or operations, with substantial exposure to China bribery laws, FCPA, and UK Anti-Bribery Act, preferably in the pharmaceutical/medical device industries or other healthcare sectors.
  • Bachelor's degree or above, with a legal background preferred. Advanced degree, CPA certification, UK Bribery Act certification, audit experience, or Juris Doctorate are highly valued.
  • Thorough knowledge of compliance and regulatory affairs, including trade compliance, import/export affairs, or EHS regulatory affairs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and under pressure, with a can-do attitude and self-motivation.
  • Proven integrity and high ethical standards.
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese (Mandarin) are essential.
  • Strong competence in strategic planning and execution of commercial compliance programs.
