Job Title: Trade Compliance Manager

Markem-Imaje, a trusted world manufacturer of product identification and traceability solutions, is seeking a highly skilled Trade Compliance Manager to lead and implement the design, deployment, and maintenance of the effective MI Trade Compliance Program in China.

This role is part of the Global Trade and General Compliance Team, closely cooperating with Supply Chain, Development, Finance, Sales, and the Dover and Markem-Imaje Law Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Classify products, software, and technology for import and export compliance, including assigning HS numbers, export classification numbers, determining origin, valuation, and more.
  • Monitor and interpret relevant customs and export compliance laws and regulations, adapting company policies and procedures as needed.
  • Create and deliver training linked to global and/or regional trade compliance requirements, helping prepare training material and record participation.
  • Plan, manage, and lead projects and special assignments at a regional/country-specific and global level to build and strengthen the Global Trade Compliance Program.
  • Support and execute the customs broker management program, ensuring KPIs are achieved and compliance is maintained.
  • Conduct internal reviews to identify risks, develop corrective action plans, and follow through until completed.
  • Work closely with global, regional, and in-country supply chain teams to create processes for compliant and business-driven solutions.
  • Ensure recordkeeping compliance in line with relevant policies and procedures.
  • Perform external benchmarking with competition and networking with trade/industry groups to identify and implement best practices for compliance programs.
  • Develop working relationships with government agencies in the region where regulatory oversight is in place for the company/industry.
  • Manage and develop the skills of the Trade Compliance Champions in China.
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of regional import/export regulations, HS and ECCN classification, product origin, customs valuation, Free Trade Agreements, including US EAR and/or EU Dual-Use regulations.
  • Knowledge of effective Corporate Trade Compliance Programs.
  • A team player with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Confident, able to work effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Good change management agent, open-minded, result-oriented, pro-active, good listener.
  • Business-focused, highly detail-oriented/analytical, and adaptive to change.
  • Works well under pressure and has the ability to set priorities, drives actions until complete, quality-oriented approach of work.
  • Chemical classification and experience in chemical controls a plus.
  • SAP knowledge and user experience is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ethical mindset, completely adheres to all relevant compliance policies, including Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, Fluent English language skills a must, other languages a plus.
Education and Experience:
  • Degree in International Trade, Supply Chain, Logistics, Process/Industrial Engineering, or related field/equivalent qualification.
  • 7-10 years of trade compliance background in a fast-paced multinational organization.
