Overview

Humanscale Design Studio, a leading manufacturer of ergonomic products, seeks an exceptional Senior Product Development Manager to join our team.

We are looking for a seasoned professional with a background in design engineering of consumer products, analytical and creative thinking, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced production environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanisms and mechanical systems, as well as experience working with manufacturers and overseas vendors.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development effort of multiple products simultaneously, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance requirements are met.
  • Work closely with Product Managers to define new product and project requirements.
  • Lead brainstorm sessions with design and engineering teams to conceptualize innovative solutions.
  • Develop 3D models of parts and assemblies using CAD software.
  • Perform theoretical engineering analysis on prospective designs.
  • Refine internal product development processes and manage engineers within the Design Studio.
  • Interface with external engineering consulting resources and manufacturers to ensure manufacturability and acceptability.
  • Review off-tool samples and inspection reports, resolving manufacturing issues and coordinating product launches with the operations team.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 12 years of experience as a design engineer in product development.
  • Established record of successfully developing products similar to those at Humanscale.
  • Exceptional understanding of mechanisms and mechanical systems.
  • Skilled in 3D modeling software such as Solidworks.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences through various media, including clear language, drawing skills, digital image manipulation, and clear emails.
