Role Overview

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) plays a crucial role in enhancing the healthcare landscape through direct scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and key opinion leaders. This position is pivotal in:

  • Sharing in-depth knowledge of GSK's data to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the science underpinning GSK's oncology therapies.
  • Collecting insightful feedback regarding GSK products and medical information to better address patient needs and identify evidence gaps.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Facilitate one-on-one scientific discussions with external experts about GSK's product offerings, empowering them to effectively communicate our portfolio to patients and the broader medical community.
  • Develop and implement a high-quality field medical strategy.
  • Serve as a key speaker at scientific gatherings, sharing knowledge with larger groups of healthcare providers and fostering clinical discussions to gather diverse insights.
  • Address unsolicited inquiries for Medical Information from healthcare professionals in a balanced and scientifically sound manner through preferred communication channels.
  • Act as a liaison between the healthcare community and GSK's internal medical teams, providing valuable insights that inform GSK's Medical, Commercial, and Research & Development initiatives.
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with Medical Representatives and Commercial teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues (e.g., sales, marketing, market access) to ensure that strategies and business plans prioritize both patient outcomes and business objectives.
  • Communicate critical safety information to healthcare professionals as it becomes available.
  • Assist GSK study teams by providing scientific education and managing inquiries from investigators involved in GSK-supported clinical trials.
  • Deliver scientific training to business partners, serving as the local expert for specific medicines or therapy areas.
  • Maintain expertise in evolving scientific and therapeutic landscapes, as well as competitor products.
  • Attend scientific conferences to stay updated on advancements in therapy areas and engage in discussions with external experts.
  • Ensure compliance with GSK standards, policies, and local regulations to meet the highest ethical standards.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Advanced degree in life sciences (PhD, MSc) or equivalent healthcare qualification (e.g., nurse practitioner, physician, pharmacist).
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in roles involving scientific exchange with external experts.
  • Skills: Effective communication abilities tailored to diverse audiences, capacity to simplify complex scientific concepts, and proficiency in various communication channels.
  • Strong foundation in clinical and pharmaceutical sciences, with the ability to quickly assimilate detailed knowledge.
  • Understanding of clinical development processes and statistical analysis.
  • Proven networking and collaboration skills to achieve business objectives.
  • A strong business acumen with the ability to balance cross-functional goals.
  • A passion for continuous learning and development.
