Job Title: Assistant Accounting Manager, GL, APAC

The Assistant Accounting Manager plays a crucial role in the Asia Pacific Region (APAC) Global Accounting Services (GAS) team, reporting directly to the APAC GL Accounting Manager in Shanghai. This position requires close collaboration with local accounting teams in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, and Guangzhou to develop and maintain productive, effective, and professional relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and review the work of other GL accountants, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Exercise sound judgment when prioritizing multiple complex tasks amidst shifting conditions, ensuring timely completion of projects.
  • Support Internal/External Audit efforts, maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Accounting and Analysis (50%):
  • Prepare monthly closing activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in leading monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes, maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Review work papers, account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Review and analyze financial statements for responsible legal entities, providing insightful recommendations.
  • Post monthly adjusting journal entries, exercising judgment to determine accruals and other journal entries.
  • Perform analytical review of departmental expenses, including trend and budget versus actual analyses.
  • Research and disseminate information on inquiries related to departmental expense, providing timely support.
  • Support external audit for both US GAAP and Stat GAAP, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Support SOX compliance efforts, maintaining the highest standards of governance.
Reporting and Analysis (25%):
  • Recommend and implement process improvements through high-level analysis and collaboration.
  • Understand various accounting reservation policies, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Develop special reports and ad-hoc analyses, providing actionable insights.
Additional Responsibilities (25%):
  • Train, develop, and mentor direct reports and other accounting staff members in accounting procedures and the Oracle ERP system.
  • Collaborate with business departments to optimize processes and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with IT and other departments for continuous process improvement.
  • Lead ad-hoc projects related to the finance and accounting department, driving innovation and excellence.
