Fraud Risk and Control Manager Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to fill the Fraud Risk and Control Manager position. This role is responsible for assisting with the effective fraud governance and management of non-financial risks in the First Line of Defence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the Fraud Risk and Control strategy as set out by the Head of Business Control and Strategy or team leader.
  • Provide specialist Risk and Control advice and/or support, challenges and insights, promoting Fraud Risk and Control monitoring and decision-making.
  • Carry out thematic checking and testing on fraud theme related projects, identify fraud related risks and establish anti-insurance fraud control mechanisms.
  • Participate in risk assessment process by conducting comprehensive thematic review.
  • Drive the FIM gap analysis with business teams to identify any control gaps or FIM dispensation submission to manage the risk and controls.
  • Engage with all 1st Line teams, 2nd line of defense and 3rd line of Defense at the direction of the Head of Business Control and Strategy or team leader.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree level.
  • 7+ years' experience on Operational Risk Management (or at least 5 years' risk consultant or internal audit experience), preferable with life insurance or related financial industry.
  • Good understanding and knowledge of Fraud risk, Operational Risk and Internal Control principles, ability to assess risk trends, and hands-on experience in risk and control assessment, control identification and testing design.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of operations and technology risks and the ability to interpret operations and technology risk findings.
  • Expert and extensive level of operational risk knowledge in order to be able to face off appropriately to the different risk owners and stewards in China and to external parties.
  • Expert and extensive level of cyber and information system risk knowledge is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with strong ability to drive fraud risk and operational risk mitigation within the first line of defense and obtain appropriate management buy-in.
  • Experience of implementing control frameworks within complex environments.
  • Attention to detail combined with strong delivery focus and ability to meet aggressive timeframes with quality results.
  • Experience as People manager is preferred.
  • Working across cultures.
