Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Manager to lead our regional medical strategy and team in Beijing. As a key member of our Medical Affairs team, you will be responsible for developing and executing regional medical plans, overseeing MSLs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Regional Medical Strategy
    • Develop and execute regional medical plans based on competitor intelligence, academic needs, market situation, and provincial policy to meet unmet regional needs.
    • Guide MSLs to develop regional medical plans and ensure synergy into an overall MSL strategy at the national level.
  • MSL Oversight
    • Review budget proposals from MSLs and co-work with TA head to balance resource allocation across regions.
    • Ensure KOLs list and engagement plans by MSLs are accurate and executed.
    • Co-visit with MSLs to provide coaching and feedback on a regular basis and support MSLs to build and maintain long-term scientific collaboration relationships with KOLs.
  • People Management
    • Identify gaps between regional medical needs and human resources settings and co-work with TA Head to allocate MSL HC settings with reasonable rationale.
    • Recruit the right candidates who fulfill Takeda Medical competency models to build and maintain the MSL team and minimize turnover rates.
    • Guide and coach new MSLs in their probation period to ensure onboarding is steady and smooth.
  • Medical Project Management
    • Lead and guide MSL teams to achieve success by setting clear KPIs, consulting, and supporting specific medical projects as needed.
    • Periodically review and provide feedback on MSL performance.
  • Compliance and Quality
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including fair and balanced information on benefits and risks of Takeda products, therapeutic options, and disease states.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Medical or Pharmacist master degree is required.
  • Experience
    • Either ≥3 years medical affairs experience in a pharmaceutical company or ≥1 year people manager experience in a pharmaceutical company.
    • For senior MSL Manager, ≥3 years medical affairs people manager experience with a track record of success in a pharmaceutical company is required.
  • Skills
    • Good knowledge of relevant therapeutic areas.
    • Fundamental knowledge of clinical study methodology.
    • Customer focus with excellent communication and influencing skills.
    • Interpersonal skills and strong leadership and motivation skills to lead and coach a team of MSLs.
    • Ability to build and maintain a strong network of effective scientific relationships with stakeholders.
    • Highly medical project management skills to deliver on complex tasks within timeframe and milestones.
    • Awareness of and adherence to company policies and compliance requirements.
Travel Requirements

The successful candidate is expected to travel during holidays as required by business needs.
