About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mandarin Department Head to join our team at eChinaCareers. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for promoting, assessing, coordinating, and developing aims and standards within the Mandarin department and across other departments.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Chinese Language and Literature (education) or Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, and a Chinese National Teaching Certificate in Chinese Subject (Primary School). They will also have a strong track record of involvement in relevant CPD and be fluent in Chinese and English.

As a leader, you will inspire colleagues to fully commit to their roles, aligning with the values and ethos of the Code of Conduct and the institution's vision. You will also facilitate the institution and the Chinese Education team's engagements with the Local Authority, ensuring curriculum compliance, managing reporting and inspections, and overseeing teacher development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote, assess, coordinate, and develop aims and standards within the Mandarin department and across other departments.
  • Ensure students are supported throughout their learning journey, setting the highest expectations for achievement within the department and upholding excellent academic standards.
  • Lead efforts in curriculum development and instructional improvements within the department, as well as contributing to the continuous professional development of its faculty members.
  • Facilitate the institution and the Chinese Education team's engagements with the Local Authority, ensuring curriculum compliance, managing reporting and inspections, and overseeing teacher development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Chinese Language and Literature (education) or Teaching Chinese as a Second Language.
  • Chinese National Teaching Certificate in Chinese Subject (Primary School).
  • PGCE preferred.
  • Evidence of involvement in relevant CPD.
  • Fluent in Chinese and English.
