Job Title: Head of Underwriting and Claim Experience

HSBC is seeking an experienced professional to lead the Underwriting and Claim Experience team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall direction and strategy for the productivity and effectiveness enhancement of the Underwriting and Claim operation in a fast-changing competitive market.
  • Create a customer-friendly work and business environment in accordance with HSBC's life insurance mission and vision.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and standards required by the HSBC Group, and by regulatory, compliance, or law.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve internal processes and procedures within and external to this role to enhance the overall customer quality experience.
  • Define the Underwriting and Claim project approach, building stakeholder buy-in around the project plan, commitments, and changes.
  • Manage transformation projects delivery proactively by defining resource needs, responsibilities, and schedules, and balancing scope, schedule, budget, and risks.
  • Report progress, issues, dependencies, and risks to project leadership and committees (as appropriate) and make recommendations to influence decision making to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realization.
  • Provide guidance and maintain a focus on how the project aligns to wider programme objectives.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree or above majoring in Finance or Insurance.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the financial industry in China, preferably life insurance.
  • Experience of business management and for strategic project delivery.
  • Good understanding of insurance business services and operations.
  • Knowledge of risk and compliance procedures.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills and strong communication skill to engage various stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to analyze situations and solve operational problems with sound decision making and problem solving ability.
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of China environment covering Insurance regulation and law.
  • Ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing, and negotiating effectively with regulatory and internal stakeholders.
  • Capable of distilling complex and varied information into useful, insightful, and concise recommendations.
  • Management Information reporting capability.
  • Able to cooperate stakeholders and manage different parties to work together under pressure with tight timeline.
  • Have driving and motivation leadership capability to ensure delivery of preset objectives in a challenging environment.
  • Excellent command of spoken and written Chinese and fluency of English is necessary.
