Job Summary


This role requires a highly skilled Strategic Category Manager to support the development of our material and suppliers strategy for motor components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in purchasing management, negotiation, and project management.



Job Description


As a Strategic Category Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the development of a material and suppliers strategy that aligns with Continental's business goals. Your key responsibilities will include:



  • Conducting market analysis to identify trends and opportunities
  • Supporting the definition of the supplier strategy with cross-functional partners
  • Documenting and implementing the supplier strategy
  • Initiating the New Supplier Introduction Process
  • Defining the annual supplier list for own material groups
  • Influencing the sourcing process during the development phase through supplier selection, negotiation, and preparation of sourcing decisions
  • Negotiating changes with suppliers and applying negotiation concepts to actively support bundling within the respective category
  • Ensuring fulfillment of all necessary requirements by negotiating and concluding legally binding contracts with suppliers
  • Implementing correct data in IT systems and ensuring timely compliance
  • Responsibility for monthly controlling and correction of local data and target achievement
  • Supporting cost reduction programs and driving improvement programs with suppliers


Qualifications


To succeed in this role, you will need:



  • University degree in Economics or Technical studies or relevant professional experience
  • Capability to negotiate and operate with different cultures
  • Experience in working with international teams on purchasing issues
  • Understanding of different foreign cultures (NAFTA, Asia, several European cultures)
  • Management skills, tools, and techniques for strategic, profit-oriented handling
  • Human relations skills, including team skills, conflict management, open-mindedness, and networking
  • Communication skills, including presentation and negotiation techniques to operate in different cultures
  • Problem-solving and decision-making tools and techniques
  • Project management skills, tools, and techniques
  • Purchasing Management knowledge, including standards of Quality system requirements, policies, and norms
  • Advanced risk management
  • Advanced technical understanding of specific components
  • Commercial knowledge, including contract law


Salary and Benefits


The salary for this role is approximately 120,000 CNY per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.



Location


The successful candidate will be based in Shanghai, China, with frequent travel required to visit suppliers and attend meetings.
