About the Role:
The De Beers Group is seeking a highly skilled Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Marketing organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our marketing activities are conducted in accordance with all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive compliance program for the Marketing organization, including policy development, training, and monitoring.
- Provide expert advice to marketing teams on regulatory requirements, including MiFID II, Anti-bribery & Corruption, Competition Law, and Market Abuse.
- Implement surveillance tools to detect and prevent market abuse and ensure compliance with exchange rules.
- Monitor regulatory changes and updates compliance frameworks and materials accordingly.
- Collaborate with Group Legal to understand the implications of new regulations and develop implementation plans.
- Design and deliver training programs to ensure that marketing executives and employees are aware of their compliance responsibilities.
- Maintain a 'relevant employee' model for the Marketing organization, assigning compliance profiles based on risk and developing training plans accordingly.
- Assist Group Policy Owners in tailoring training materials for the Marketing organization and provide training to marketing employees.
- Embed a compliance culture within the Marketing organization and serve as a point of contact for training and queries.
- Perform annual Compliance Risk Assessments and assist with Group Risk Assessments.
- Provide regular reporting on training completion, GEH/COI submissions, and other compliance issues.
- Lead meetings and discussions with stakeholders to drive compliance outcomes.
Requirements:
- University degree in a relevant field, such as Law, Accounting, or Economics.
- At least 7 years of experience in compliance, with a focus on commodities.
- Experience in a trading environment, commercial or investment banking background, or legal/general counsel experience.
- Experience working with detailed legal/policy documentation, particularly in relation to Chinese regulations.
- Experience in a complex organization across different countries and jurisdictions, cultures, and interfaces with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in a regulated industry, trade surveillance, and anti-bribery & corruption and competition laws.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Mandarin is a pre-requisite.
- Excellent governance skills, strong quantitative and analytical skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and strong project management skills.
