Job Description:

Legal Counsel Role

As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing compliance, corporate, and commercial legal advice and services to support our vacation ownership business in Asia. Your responsibilities will include advising, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of documents, policies, marketing collateral, programs, and contracts for our Asian operations.


You will work closely with our sales and marketing departments to develop new initiatives, establish new locations, and review sales and marketing collaterals for compliance with applicable laws, company policy, and governing documents.


Your expertise will be sought after by our senior leadership team, including the President and Managing Director, on relevant legal matters affecting our business in Asia.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Provide compliance, corporate, and commercial legal advice and services to support our vacation ownership business in Asia
  • Advise, review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of documents, policies, marketing collateral, programs, and contracts for our Asian operations
  • Work closely with our sales and marketing departments to develop new initiatives, establish new locations, and review sales and marketing collaterals for compliance
  • Serve as a key advisor to our senior leadership team on relevant legal matters affecting our business in Asia
  • Develop and implement effective systems and processes to streamline document flows and improve operational efficiency


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must have a proven track record of success as a lawyer in a major law firm or commercial environment, with a strong understanding of property, commercial, and corporate law.


We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced legal professional who can exercise sound judgment in a fast-paced commercial environment. You should be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the business, from senior leaders to sales staff.


The ideal candidate will have:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Law from a reputable university in China or another major jurisdiction
  • Minimum 7 years post-graduate experience in a major law firm or commercial environment in Asia
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant law, regulations, and policies in China and Asia-Pacific region
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English, with high-level oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and provide expert advice in a fast-paced commercial environment
  • Strong organizational skills, tenacity, initiative, and decision-making abilities
  • High level of computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office programs
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to learn and grow with the company


Estimated Salary Range:

$120,000 - $180,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.


This salary range reflects the compensation package for a Senior Legal Counsel position in Shanghai, taking into account factors such as cost of living, industry standards, and internal equity.
